Based in Oxton in Birkenhead on the Wirral Peninsula in the North West of the UK, the Association runs cricket and rugby clubs from its Clubhouse in Holm Lane, Oxton, based at the HM Curphey Memorial Ground.
For further information on the cricket club and rugby club, including fixtures,
results and player honours, please use the links on the left.
The Association welcomes enquiries from anyone interested in starting to play cricket or rugby, as well as from existing players of all standards and levels of experience who would like to join us.
In either case, simply contact us for details of our teams, facilities and membership. Whether you live locally in Birkenhead or Wirral, or further afield, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
Although Rugby and Cricket are played at different times of the year, training for both sports continues through the close seasons. If you're thinking of getting involved for the first time, why not try some out of season training?
The Association is proud to hold Clubmark certification,
which is an accredition for clubs with junior sections. Clubmark is
the Sport England mark of high quality junior clubs and is awarded
to clubs that comply with minimum operating standards in four areas:
- The playing programme
- Duty of care and child protection
- Sports equity and ethics
- Club management

Clubmark Accreditation
![]() Rugby & Cricket at Old Parkonians - Click for the detail |
Clubmark is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections. According to research conducted by the Northwest Regional Development Agency in 2004, three fifths (60.5%) of young people belong to a sports club outside school.
Clubmark accreditation means that the holder meets defined standards to:
- Ensure the well-being of young people whilst in the care of adults, other than their legal parent(s)/carer(s).
- Enthuse young people to enjoy sport and active recreation to build a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Enable young people to use their leisure time creatively.
- Allow young people to optimise their talents and personal ability.
- Identify and support the development of the most talented young people.
The Association has been awarded Clubmark status in recognition of the standards we maintain to encourange the participation of young people in sport.
As part of the Association's ongoing involvement in the Clubmark programme, Child Welfare Officer, Dave Westwater has recently completed the 3 yearly ‘time to listen’ and ‘safe hands’ courses at Northwich.
